This is a simple but effective registry hack that has been tried and tested several times by me and it works!!
If you don’t believe me then try this for yourself!
1 – Start menu/run/ type “regedit” and press enter,
this will take you to the registry editor
2 – Now follow this directory:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/WPAEvents
3 – When you get to WPAEvents in the righthand column there should be “OOBETimer”
right click it and go to “modify”
Change the numbers in there to :
FF D5 71 D6 8B 6A 8D 6F d5 33 93 FD (this works with Windows XP Home and Pro, both 32 and 64bit versions)
4 – When you’ve entered them, right click on the file “WPAEvents” and go into “permissions”
5 – In there highlight “SYSTEM” and underneath it check the two boxes under “deny” and click “OK”
Phew thats it!!! I know it looks complicated but it’s really easy, it just requires patience.
I tried this when I used up the amount of times you can activate Windows XP, it worked a treat!
To check that Windows is activated, simply click on Start menu/All Programs/Activate Windows.
It will say “Windows is already activated”.

Tried the registry hack for WIN XP activation. It worked as
described.
However, now I get the Windows warning:
Your Windows product must be activated within 3 days.
Do yo want to activate Windows now?
YES NO
Will I have to reinstall Windows in 3 days or should I simply
ignore the 3 day deadline since Windows is already
activated?

what WinXP in your comp it is the SP1, SP2, SP3., Professional, Home or the other version. maybe you need to turn off the automatic updates in your OS. and what key you use to install the windows.
may be the problem is on the way you install the windows.

please read the tut carefully coz before that option can run you may need to change the registry key first.

Jimmy having a slightly different problem am trying to move my 32 bit version of xp to a newer computer after making an image of old computer and putting image on new computer get the blue screen when try to boot..So used a xp service 3 disc to reinstall system files on this image used the win key of old system while doing this..System will now boot to screen that says system needs to be activated before can log on..click on yes to activatte then computer goes off into LALLA land after hard drive activity the activation screen never comes up so I can go throught the activation process. Tried the regedit hack as can go into Windows safe mode no problem..Thanks for any help..
I did this, but it tells me to activate windows, then goes into the screen that says “windows already activated” but then it just loops back and does not boot into windows. Help!
